Tennessee State Primitive Baptist Convention
A Brief History of the Tennessee State Primitive Baptist Convention
The dream was there long before the intellectual consciousness conceived of it gently floats through the rivers of troubled thoughts. Once it begins to penetrate through the subconcious, the semi-concious takes hold until the full-concious springs to action. Thus, began the reality of doing something for the Primitive Baptist churches in the state of Tennessee. A small group of anxious and progressive Moderators and Elders from different Associations began to hold meetings at various times to push forward and work this dream into reality.
The first annual session of the Tennessee State Primitive Baptist Convention was held July 17-19, 1975. The session convened at Big Harpeth United Primitive Baptist Tabernacle, Nashville, TN, Elder N. A. Mumphrey, Moderator. The Themewas "A Going Organization for a Coming Christ". Coventioneers gave President Brewer Hall a standing ovation, saying that Elder Hall was most influential in creating the first Annual Session of the TN State Primitive Baptist Convention. May there be no breaks, but rather a strengthening of all Primitive Baptists. May the harmony forever live!
We salute you President Emeritus Elder Brewer Hall!
